Cloud in the Valley

Summer Storm on Lake

Early summer storm on Lakr Manitoba, Canada

Snow at the point

Flood and Lights

Northern Lights reflecting in a flood covered prairie field

Jasper Sunrise 5

Twilght Forest

Donut Wave

This "Donut Wave" was caused by a series of waves crashing down on an underwater structure. I photographed for about 4 hours to catch the donut twice.

Sunrise 4 RMNP

This sunrise photograph was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, USA A piece of glass from a welders helmet was used as a filter.

The End

The town of Cisco, Utah is getting to the end of its road. The decay around the town is getting to the end of its road. As well at the day is getting to THE END.

Driftwood

This photograph was made at Wiamea Beach on Kauai, Hawaii. Interesting piece of drift wood sticking out of the sand on the waters edge.

Hanalei Pier

Hanalei Pier on the north end of the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Sunset

Sunrise mass ascension

The 2011 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was a marvelous event. The colours, the events, the people, the city. One could not ask for much more. The photography was endless.

Morning Ascension

Early morning mass ascension at Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

End of Day Storm

A late day storm passed over Monument Valley. A great time for making photographs.

Evening Drive Home

Sunset on the Masai Mara in Kenya. Two safari vehicle driving back to their camps at the end of the day

Last rays of the day.

It had been a stormy cloudy day in Monument Valley, A couple of small slits appeared in the western skyline, resulting on this wonderful colour out in the valley

Evening Glow

Evening Glow at the 2011 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

First Snow

First winter snow in one of our city parks.

Monument Sunrise

Sunrise during a recent visit to Monument Valley. Filled with iconic landmarks, but is amazing.

Shrouded canopy

This photograph was made from a small gondola while gliding through the canopy of a rainforest in Costa Rica earlier this month. I was drawn by the slight tint to the fog/rain from a sliver of sun peeking in from somewhere.

Starry Night in Monument Valley

I made this photograph while in Monument Valley, Navajo Nation, USA

The End of Canyon Lake

Near the end of a paddle boat cruise on Canyon Lake, near Tortilla Flats, Arizona The boat rounded a small arm in the lake and presented me with this view. I enjoy the drama the light is playing on the wall and all the layers

Lake Manitoba Milky Way

On Wed night after several weeks of stormy night skies and before moonrise I made the ISO 6400 20second shot of the milky way reflecting on Lake Manitoba

Emerging Moon

This past weekend several large and violent storm cell passed south of us over Lake Manitoba. This photograph was made as one of the cells had just about passed and the almost full moon was about to break out behind it.

Touched by Mother Nature

Photographed near Lake Manitoba, Canada.. A series of storm cell passed through the area during the day. One of them left us a reminder that Mother Nature can change here mind very quickly going from drama to beauty

Dunes from above

Dunes in Namibia photographed from an Ultra-light. Shows areas of the dunes where vegetation is starting to grow

Jenny Lake Sunset

Jenny Lake at sunset. Grand Tetons National Park in USA

Mini Tornado - Ash Devil

I was out exploring South West of Winnipeg to-day. I observed a much larger than normal cloud of smoke rising from a farmers field fire. That is required much closer examination. LUCK and lots of it were on my side today. I was able to capture what is known as a Ash Devil, you most likely have here of Dust Devils or Water Devils (water spouts) before. They are caused by a tornado vortex in this cause the debris is the ash left by the fire. As I said I was lucky to be able to photograph several of them.

Decaying

The town of Cisco, UT: The town way decaying The infrastructure was decaying The vegetation was decaying The day was decaying

New Years 2012 Disney World

Photo is a single 90 second expose of the New Years Eve fireworks display at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida

Winter Night River

I was drawn to the scene by all the different sources of light that were present. I knew colour balance was going to be difficult but they were providing a interesting display of light and shadows. What I envisioned was a scene that was easily recognized and followed a standard set of landscape “rules”. But that would show the effects of the various light sources/colour balances. Along with the resulting different shadow angles.

Arctic River Terminus

Battle of the Lights

Nature's Curtain

NATURE'S CURTAINThis morning I was at Maui North, our lake house, doing some starscapes on the beach. I noticed a slight green tint on the lakes surface. I turned around and faced north and show the tell tale signs of the Northern Lights. Going to the back of our lot to a small opening I found this outstanding display of a "Magic Curtain"

Sunset in the wetlands

A pair of Great Blue Herons enjoying a lovely sunset over the wetlands. Photographed in Florida, USA

Solar Battle

On a summer evening. Just at sun set a display of Northern lights arrived in Manitoba Canada. The "Solar Battle" between the setting sun and the Aurora Borealis was an impressive sight and another wonder of nature

Day passes to Night

Day passes to Night - Lake Manitoba Canada Sometimes the setting sun may not be the actual subject of your "sun" set photograph. In this case far to the south of the setting sun. The sky revealed the passage to day time to night time.

Tranquil Symmetry

What a perfect end to a perfect day at the lake. Tonight was on of the very rare occasions the surface of the the lake was like a mirror. An in addition the sun set into a very heavy layer of smoke pollution. Some of the local white pelicans put the finishing touch to "Tranquil Symmetry"

Starry Night at TRNP

It was around 10:00 pm, in the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, in North Dakota, USA. The moon was in week 2 and the sky was cloudless. The exposures were 10 of 5 minutes duration.

Last Flight of the Day

Spent the afternoon and evening at Oak Hammock Marsh, today (2013-10-09). Trying to get a few "different" goose shots. This one has a sprinkle of PS6 magic. BUT.......both shots were done today.

Rushing River (detail)

This detail of the Rushing River was made on a dull and dreary day. I wanted to capture the contrast between the sharp and detailed rocks and the soft flowing water.

Pacific Sea Stacks Sunset

Photographed on the Washington State coast on the Pacific Ocean

Storm Riders

High winds and stormy conditions, bring out the "Storm Riders" on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada.

Sunrise at the Mitten's

Sunrise in Monument Valley in the Navajo Nation is magical. Here with the East and West Mitten Buttes it is special

Sunrise at 6,454 feet

Woodlands Aurora

Feb. 18th was the best aurora display of the year. BUT......Manitoba Canada is not known for its mountains. The moon has just finished its full cycle so I knew it would be some help. We have be having an unusual amounts of snow this year, so I new this also would help with what I visualized. Going to a local Doppler Radar station. I found the parking lot had been recently cleared and there were 4 meter banks of snow around the perimeter. So with the right camera angle and field of view. I finally got my aurora and what appears as mountains image.

Tornadic Aurora

Icons of Canyonlands

The iconic, Washer Woman Arch and Monster Tower are two of the most photographed structure found in the Island in The Sky District of Canyonlands National Park near Moab, UT.

Broken Arch

Sunrise out in front of Broken Arch, in Arches National Park, near Moab Utah

Wandering Spring Storm

Approaching Spring Snow Storm

This big male Plains Bison appears to be announcing the approaching spring snow storm

Sunrise in the Canyon

Mid winter dawn comes to Dead Horse Point State Park.
